A fire safe valve is not a valve that survives a fire. It is a valve that, having had its soft seat burned away, still shuts off within a defined leakage limit and can still be operated, which is why the qualification is a type test on a sacrificial sample rather than a check on the unit you receive. Fluid Controls holds a third-party certificate to API 607:2010 and its ISO equivalent, ISO 10497:2010. This is a product certificate rather than an accredited in-house capability: the fire test itself is not run at our Pune laboratory.
