AS 603

Aerospace hydraulic lines are qualified to their own family of SAE documents rather than to the industrial hose standards, and AS 603 is the impulse method in that family. The hose, tube or fitting assembly is cycled between a low pressure and a peak pressure, with the waveform, rate, temperature and number of cycles taken from the detail specification, and is then inspected for leakage and damage. Our accredited scope carries AS 603 at clause 4.0, listed beside ISO 1402, ISO 6803 and SAE J343, so an assembly built to an aerospace drawing and one built to an industrial one are qualified in the same laboratory, each to the document its specification names.

What we can show

  • Accredited scope, certificate TC-16263

Impulse testing of hydraulic hose, tubing and fitting assemblies to AS 603 clause 4.0 is its own entry under sub-assembly, ancillaries and accessories.

  • One scope, industrial and aerospace

ISO 6803, EN 856, SAE J517 and AS 603 are all separate accredited entries, so the impulse method follows the specification rather than the laboratory.
