A dimensional inspection proves a part is the right shape. It says nothing about whether the bar it came from had a lap in it, or whether a forging closed over a fold. ASME Section V is the reference for the non-destructive methods that answer that, and Fluid Controls runs two of them in house: dye penetrant for surface-breaking indications, and ultrasonic for what is inside. Both are applied to incoming bar, forgings and castings as well as to forged and machined parts.
