Fugitive emission is the leakage a valve loses to atmosphere through its stem seal while working perfectly in every other respect. ISO 15848-1 is the type test that measures it, and the reason it matters commercially is that it produces classes rather than a verdict. A tightness class, an endurance class and a temperature class, which a specification can then require by name. Fluid Controls holds a third-party certificate to it.
