Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Fluid flow, heat transfer and pressure drop simulated virtually: velocity profiles, flow distribution, thermal behaviour and erosion patterns, solved in ANSYS Fluent.
The fluid domain is extracted, meshed, and assigned fluid properties, boundary conditions and turbulence models before solving. The graphical output visualises internal velocity distributions, pressure losses and thermal gradients across the component, allowing the geometry to be iterated and optimised on screen before a physical prototype is built.
The same method validates Fluid Controls' own valves and fittings, and is offered as a study on yours: for a new fluid system design, or for an existing layout you want analysed, optimised or compared with another.
What we can show
Performance criteria
Pressure drop, flow coefficient (Cv/Kv), velocity distribution, turbulence, thermal behaviour and cavitation risks of valves, connectors and piping assemblies.
Systems already in place
Studies and flow optimisation of installed fluid lines, or comparisons between different valve and fitting configurations, to a customer brief.
Then proven on the bench
A design that passes CFD simulation is prototyped and flow-tested in our NABL-accredited laboratory, so the virtual model is validated against real-world physical measurements.
