Hose testing
Hoses, hose connectors and finished assemblies, tested on the Maximator hose test bench - proof, burst and leakage to the standard the application cites.
- Highest assembly rating
- 450 bar
- Rubber hose assemblies
- Assembly size range
- 1/4 - 4 in
- Metallic hose reaches the widest
- Temperature range
- -60 to 350 °C
- Metallic hose assemblies
Hose, connector and crimp are tested separately and then as an assembly: every finished assembly is leak tested before despatch, not sampled. The figures quoted are the limit of each hose family rather than of a single assembly. Rubber to 450 bar, PTFE to 300 bar, polyamide to 42 bar, metallic to 140 bar and up to 4 in.

What we run
NABL accredited scope 3/8
Proof pressure test
NABL Accredited Test Laboratory | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 | TC-16263
ISO 1402 cl. 8.1, 7.2.2Held at proof pressure on the hose test bench, on the assembly and on the connector, to the standard the application cites.
Burst pressure test
NABL Accredited Test Laboratory | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 | TC-16263
ISO 1402 cl. 8.3, 7.2.2Pressure raised to destruction on a sample, which is how the margin above the working pressure gets established rather than assumed.
Leakage test
Run on every assembly before despatch - not a sample and not a batch, which is why a hose leaves here with a result describing that hose.
Impulse pressure test
NABL Accredited Test Laboratory | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 | TC-16263
ISO 6803 cl. 8Pressure pulses to the count the specification requires, for assemblies going into circuits that will never see a steady pressure.
Low and high temperature testing
The assembly held at the extremes of its rated range, where hose, connector and crimp all move by different amounts.
Salt spray and plating tests
Corrosion resistance of the connector's coating - zinc or zinc-nickel on carbon steel - assessed before it is ever crimped.
Cyclic opening and closing
Threaded connectors made and broken repeatedly, to prove the seal survives the number of disconnections the duty will ask for.
Fire and smoke compliance
Run where the specification calls for it, typically on rail brake assemblies carrying a fire-retardant sleeve.
Standards applied
ISO 1402
Hydraulic hose assemblies. Its proof pressure and hydrostatic burst clauses are inside the NABL accredited scope.
EN 854
Textile-braid hose, 10 to 160 bar - the construction used for railway braking systems.
EN 856
Four-spiral wire hose, 165 to 450 bar, for heavy off-road, mining and oil and gas duty.
SAE J517
The 100R series, including 100R14 for the PTFE and metallic-braided hoses.
ISO 10380
Corrugated metal hose, braided and unbraided, for high-temperature and abrasive service.
ISO 6803
Hydraulic-pressure impulse test without flexing. Its impulse clause is inside the NABL accredited scope.
What we can show
Witnessed testing
Hose tests the customer specifies are witnessed either by Fluid Controls inspectors or by a third-party inspector you appoint.
A result on every assembly
Leak testing before despatch is the standing rule, so an assembly's certificate describes that assembly rather than one like it.
Accredited proof and burst
Proof pressure and hydrostatic burst to ISO 1402, and the impulse pressure test to ISO 6803, all sit on the NABL scope — so those three results carry accreditation rather than only a report.
